How can we help?

Answers to common questions about prayer times, the Quran reader, backups, and your account. Can't find it here — write to us directly.

Prayer times & notifications

How are prayer times calculated?

Kitabia computes Fajr, Sunrise, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha on your device from your location and your chosen calculation method and madhhab. You can change either in Settings › Prayer.

My times look off by a few minutes. What do I check?

Confirm your location is current — refresh it from the prayer screen — and check your calculation method matches what your local mosque uses. Small differences between methods are expected and normal.

Notifications aren't arriving on time.

Open Settings › Notifications in Kitabia and run the notification health check — it flags if iOS has throttled alerts or Focus mode is blocking them. Also confirm notifications are allowed for Kitabia in iOS Settings.

What is Travel Mode, and does it drain my battery?

Travel Mode keeps prayer times accurate while you move between cities by checking your location in the background. It only runs while enabled, and you can switch it off anytime in Settings › Location.

Can I use Kitabia without giving location access?

Yes — enter a city manually in Settings › Location and times and qibla will use that instead.

How do I record how a prayer went, not just whether I prayed?

Tap the prayer on your wheel or list and log both timing (on time, late, missed) and quality. You can edit either afterward from the same entry.

Quran reader

Which script styles are available?

Uthmani, IndoPak, and a colour-coded Tajweed layout. Switch between them in the reader settings; some fonts download on first use.

Does the app remember where I stopped reading?

Yes — opening the Quran reader returns you to your last viewed page automatically, on either device orientation.

Can I search for a specific ayah?

Use the search icon in the reader to search by text or reference, then bookmark any ayah you want to return to quickly.

Recitation audio is out of sync with the highlighted ayah.

Try re-downloading the reciter's audio pack from Settings › Quran › Recitation. A partial download is the most common cause.

Habits, fasting & qibla

How do goals work for Quran, Qiyam, Zikr and Duaa?

Each habit has its own goal plan and its own session timer, so your Zikr target is independent of your Quran reading target. Review or edit past sessions from that habit's history.

Can I see my progress over different time ranges?

Yes — switch between week, month, three months, six months and year from the progress screen for any habit or your prayer log.

How does fasting tracking work with two calendars?

Mark a fasted day on either the Gregorian or Hijri calendar; Kitabia keeps both in sync and highlights Ramadan and other notable fasting days automatically.

Why does the qibla direction look wrong?

The qibla compass needs your device's compass calibrated. Wave your phone in a figure-eight motion if iOS prompts you, and make sure location access is on.

Account, backup & data

Do I need an account to use Kitabia?

No. Your worship log, goals and reading position are stored on your device by default. An account is only needed if you want your data synced or backed up remotely.

How do backup and restore work?

Create a backup from Settings › Backup, which saves your data to a file you control. Restore it on any device running Kitabia from the same menu.

I switched phones. How do I bring my data over?

Restore your most recent backup on the new device before you start logging anything new, to avoid overwriting it.

How do I delete my account and data?

Go to Settings › Account › Delete Account. This permanently removes any data you have synced to our servers; anything stored only on your device is deleted when you remove the app.

Is my data shared with anyone?

No. We don't sell data or share it with advertisers. See our privacy policy for the full detail on what is collected and why.

Still stuck?

Tell us your device model and iOS version and we'll get back to you within a couple of days.
